333-MPG Hybrid

Technology offers a great many things.  There are production companies working on automated vehicles that will drive themselves, park themselves, and maybe eventually be able to fly.  We already have cars that turn into boats, 2 million dollar vehicles, and gold Porsches, so what is next?  The next car on our most outrageous vehicle list is the 333-MPG Hybrid.  If a car could ever look like a futuristic automobile, this is it.

You will think the 333-MPG comes from some science fiction novel rather than being an actual car in production for consumers to purchase.  The 333- MPG is not a fast moving vehicle.  In fact, it can only achieve 65 MPH at the moment.  According to our information, the 333-MPG Hybrid does cost less than 20,000 dollars.

The vehicle is called Aptera and is made in Southern California by Accelerated Composites.  It is only a two seat vehicle without storage space.  It has a very small boot, but it is hardly anything to discuss.  The vehicle has been made with a lightweight composite which helps to offer better acceleration and handling.  It is a lot like the Honda Insight according to Accelerated Composites.

Under the aerodynamically shaped hood you have a 12 horsepower CARB diesel engine with a 25 horsepower DC motor.  The motor is hooked to an automatic CVT that will power the Aptera.  Physically the Aptera is only 173 inches long.

Instead of having the four standard wheels it has two on the front and then a single wheel in the back.  The back of the vehicle comes to almost nothing, which is why the boot space is pretty much non-existent.  The Aptera will come in white and silver with tail lights and head lights.  The wheels are covered in the same material that makes up the body.  You have a front windshield and side windows, but no back window.  You’re going to feel more like you are sitting in a space ship rather than a vehicle.  It has a bubble like feel in the interior and it is cramped for space, as the width is not as wide as a regular vehicle.  You do have leg room though for both the driver and passenger.

For the moment the vehicle is only available in California because of the maintenance required.  Since the vehicle’s factory is in California they can only service it there.  They may begin to offer the car in a wider range if it becomes more popular.  You can even take a tour of the production facility in the next year or so if you are interested in the vehicle.

The Aptera is not without its amenities.  In fact, it has air and heating system.  It is a solar assisted climate control option, but still allows you to use it off of a battery for normal climate control.  The solar cells on the roof of the vehicle are what offer the power to the engine as well as the electric plug for overnight.
